The Melting Pot has been North America’s premier fondue restaurant. It is an easy-to-operate franchise with almost no competition within the fondue niche. The Melting Pot delivers a unique dining experience centered on the celebration of food and special life moments. It furnished franchisees with the chance to host these moments, give remarkable food and atmosphere and work for themselves in an exceptional market that keeps on developing and flourish.
History
The Melting Pot first opened its doors in April of 1975 in Maitland, Florida. It was a comfortable, quaint location, and its first menu had only three items: Swiss cheese fondue, beef fondue, and a chocolate fondue dessert. However, as the eatery’s notoriety extended, so did its menu and feel.
Mark Johnston, who worked as a waiter at The Melting Pot, noticed the boost in popularity, due to affordable Melting Pot menu prices and, together with his brothers Mike and Bob, saved to open The Melting Pot of Tallahassee in 1979. With the rapid growth of the Tallahassee location, within a year, its success led the way for future franchising.
The Johnston brothers branched out in 1985 and launched their second eatery in Tampa. As their business grew, the brothers considered franchising even more stores to expand
Then in 1985, Mark, Mike and Bob Johnston bought all rights to The Melting Pot brand and begun the new franchise company, The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc. After researching and reorganizing for a year, The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc. began its franchise offering.
